On Saturday, July 16th, Coniece Washington sent chills throughout her audience as she performed at Germano’s PIATTIN Cabaret. It was simply magical as the Vocalist and Baltimore Alliance member Coniece Washington and her talented musician friends “Rocked the House!” Coniece is the ultimate Songstress with a huge heart to share her stage as she had the wonderful MiMi Bowman open the show. Mimi set the tone perfectly and then Coniece brought the house down as she performed Sultry and Sassy Jazz standards and beautiful ballads. Not many vocalists can hold their own when it comes to singing the words to Freddie Hubbard’s “Little Sun Flower.” Coniece not only sang the song, but she engaged the audience and had everyone rocking and snapping their fingers; anticipating her next selection. Her rendition of “Close Your Eyes” written by Bernice Petkere and performed by numerous Jazz Greats was on point and her sultry performance of Jazz ballad “The Nearness of You” made one want to fall in love all over again. One of the biggest compliments an artist can receive is to have the Baltimore Jazz Alliance originator and President Emeritus attend your show. Barry Glassman brought several members from the Baltimore Jazz Alliance with him and he shared with me that he actually visited Coniece’ s website www.coniecewashington.com and listened to her music from her debut CD “Love Changes” and decided to join us at Germano’s after a long day at Artscape. A tale tale sign that a show is going to be special is when you have the likes of Barry Glassman there! It was a full house of family, friends and awesome people, mainly from the DMV area. Coniece’s band for the evening was spectacular! She was supported by Pianist Darius Scott, Drummer Robert Shahid, Trumpeter Clarence Ward III and Bassist Jeron White. Up and coming Vocalist Theresa Sise shared her talent and Guitarist Dunia Jackson accompanied Coniece on a song.
